Dell XPS M1730 Review
The Dell XPS M1730 is a monster of a gaming laptop. It measures a huge 56mm at it’s deepest and weighs a hefty 5kg. However it was never meant to be the ultra-portable laptop one keeps hidden in their backpack. This is for serious gaming and multimedia apps. No wonder Dell have nicknamed the M1730 the “Beast”.
The XPS Dell M1730 has a faux-carbon finish which is very much “in your face” and portrays power.
Owing to its large size it is able to have a truly large and well sized keyboard. This means that you will not feel cramped like you sometimes do with other gaming laptops. The keyboard is also backlit, which looks uber cool. Just above the keyboard is a small lcd screen which shows a range of information, like time/date etc. This wont enhance your gaming at all, but does look quite cool.
With a gaming laptop this big and powerful you would expect it to generate a lot of ehat, but owing to its large ventilation panels, the XPS is kept cool the whole time.
A pretty cool addition is the remote control to control your multimedia (CD’s,DVD’s, and media files) from a distance.
The screen produces crystal clear graphics, with an excellent graphics set-up (two Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX GPUs in an SLI configurationtwo Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX GPUs in an SLI configuration).
Yes the Dell XPS M1730 is expensive. Yes it is big. But if you want a top of the range gaming laptop…you simply can not go wrong with this baby.
